International Womens Day

Happy International Women's Day today

And a big Vinaka Vakalevu to all the Pasifika women and men that attended our International Women's Day event in Clayton last night which was a sellout to 100 pax.

Thank you to Scanlon Foundation Research Institute for making this even happen.

A big thank you to our partners Bougainville Sankamap Australia Association Inc and Femme Solidarity ; key leads are leaders Nellie Tinga and Sarah Chong.

Thank you to our Panel Speakers:

- Maria Dimopoulos from Safe and Equal

- Talatala Duncan Turuva from Mt Waverley Uniting Church

- Lorna Yakopo from Tadra Cafe

- Elena Euese from Melbourne Storm

- Allsion Crawford from Lakewood Accounting

We were blessed to hear Miss Samoa Victoria Inc. Chantelle sing a beautiful rendition of timeless " Isa lei Lia" mixing her Samoan and Fijian (Levuka) side.

Thank you to the many Pasifika island community members that supported from the event namely Maori, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

Thank you to the sponsors for the raffles; Quest Frankston Apartment Hotels, Melbourne Storm, Ackers Chiropractic, The Clayton Hotel and Nellie Tinga. We raised $620 from the raffles which was presented to Sally Napolioni of Thee Coffee Table community group.

Thank you also to SOLA Creations for the creation of the beautiful coloured bougainvillea flowers which were presented to each attendee.

And not forgetting our beautiful Muslim sister Fatima who drew all the henna designs on the women's hands.

The theme this year is Accelerate Action (towards gender equality)...The time to act is now, and we—each of us—are the driving change that can drive this movement forward.
